1Password is one of the most popular password managers for the time being. On Feb 23rd, 1Password announced an updated version that attracted wide attention from the public.
The update includes an all-new ‘Crypto Wallet’ item, which comes with fields specific to cryptocurrencies, such as wallet address and recovery phase. This makes it more convenient for crypto traders to store details attached to the crypto wallet.
In the announcement, 1Password also revealed its partnership with the Phantom wallet to assist traders in managing cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and tokens on the Solana blockchain. You can directly link your Phantom wallet to 1Password with a single tap via an API.
Although the move makes sense in the context that many users are using 1Password to store private keys and the seed phrases, the reactions to this update are not so positive. Some Twitter users feel that with this partnership, 1Password has associated itself with something they consider fraud.
However, some users are not bothered about this update. ‘You are not forced to use this feature’ – said one account.
It is still difficult to predict the future implications of this move from 1Password. We will keep an eye out and let you know the latest update in upcoming articles.
